Obituary

Ronald Reed (Ron or Ronnie) was born on February 2, 1956 in Georgetown, South Carolina. He was the only son of Geraldine Reed-Bailey. Ron laid to rest in the arms of the Lord on October 8, 2020.

Ron was raised by his maternal grandparents, Alex and Evelina Reed, alongside his aunts and uncles as a brother, rather than as a nephew. Ron attended Choppee High School and graduated in 1974. He was their class president and graduated second in his class. Ron received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University in 1978.

He later joined the United States Army and became a Sargent. Ron received a Medal of Commendation, an Army Achievement Medal, and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon. He relocated to the Washington Metropolitan area and worked at the Pentagon.

After leaving the military, Ron joined a consulting firm formally GRCI, and now AT&T Government Solutions. He has been with the company for over 30 years and was the Director of Government Security. During that time, he met his future wife, Karen Collins, who also worked for GRCI. They had a fairytale wedding on September 30, 1995 and have two beautiful children, Jacquelyn Renae Reed and Ronald William Reed.

Ron was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed going to the movies, playing games, going on vacation and just hanging out laughing with his family and relatives from South Carolina and New York. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan! He attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church with his family and was a trustee.

Ron could always light up a room was his beautiful smile. Left to morn are his wife, Karen Reed, his daughter, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Reed, his son, Ronald (Ronnie) Reed, his uncles Michael Reed (Essie), Donald Reed, and Curtis Orange; his aunt Carol Reed; two special cousins, Ida McCullough and Mary Dean Reed, all from Georgetown, South Carolina; In-laws Freddie Collins, Sylvenia Collins, Jeffrey Collins, Ivy Collins-Tagger, Christine Collins, and Elena Collins; LaKeshia Collins-Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
