Obituary

Maxine Lynch, 85, born September 8, 1935 began her homegoing journey on October 17, 2020 at her home in Fairfax, Virginia.

Born in Corinna, Maine, Maxine preceded in death by her parents, Harold W. Covel and Gladys (Chase) McLaughlin; son, Gary Whiting; 2 brothers, Arthur W. and Donald E. Covel, Sr.; 4 sisters, Evelyn Louise Pearl, Ellen Safford, Roberta Pratt, Dorothea Covel.

While Mom, Grandma, Maxine, Max, and Mrs. Maxine will be missed, she will be remembered always but especially every time we see a lighthouse, use a paint brush, go to a horse track/casino, read a mystery/romantic novel, hold a quilt, eat a lobster, or hear a conure. Her Bangor Senior High School yearbook stated it best by saying that she is known for her "sweet smile and quiet ways".

Surviving her is her true love, best friend, husband of 52 years and 11 months, Robert Van Lynch. They fell in love on a blind date and blessedly in love throughout the years; 4 children (Russell Whiting, Patricia (Whiting) Hailey, Brian Whiting, and Heather Lynch), 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 4 stepchildren, many other relatives, and friends.

Friends may visit from 10am – 11am Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Ames Funeral Home 8914 Quarry Road Manassas, Virginia 20110 with funeral services beginning at 11am. Followed by a private family interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in Maxine's name at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and ASPCA.

Arrangement by Keith Savage of Pope Funeral Service, Maryland. Bishop Doctor Malcolm Oliver Ames officiating.
