Obituary

On Saturday June 12, 2021, Gwen laid down her heavy burdens, took Jesus by the hand, and walked into the Kingdom of God, saying "Free at last".

She was affectionately known as Puggy to all that knew and loved her. She was born on March 8, 1963 in Washington, DC at Freedmen Hospital to the late Peggy and Roger (Sonny) Brown. She was preceded in death by her mom and dad.

Puggy attended Glen Arden Elementary School, and John Carroll Elementary School in Maryland. She also attended Mount Vernon High School and Garfield High School in Woodbridge, Virginia where she obtained her GED. It was very important to her grandmother, Mamie Chestnut, that Puggy knew the Lord and the pardoning of her sins at an early age. Her grandmother always had her in church.

Puggy had an engaging and outgoing personality. She could keep you laughing for hours win the simplest of jokes. Her passion in life was going fishing, which she cared about greatly. Gwen worked at Infineon in Richmond, Virginia and Micron in Manassas, Virginia where she later retired. Gwen leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, her son, Kevin Brown of Woodbridge, Virginia; a brother, Nicholas T. Walker in Lignum, Virginia; a devoted and loving sister (cousin), Jan Kellough (Manny) in Woodbridge, Virginia; one niece, Monet Walker of Culpeper, Virginia; one nephew, McKinley McCrae, of Lignum, Virginia; two Aunts, Ella Thomas, of Martinsburg, WV and Patricia Chestnut, of Fairmont Heights, MD, and Linda Hall, who she affectionately called (Aunt Linda) of Suitland, MD, a special family member Emily Bowers, of Bronx NY; a special daughter, Tameka Matthews, of Woodbridge, Virginia; and a special son, Doug (Boots) Fleet, of Glen Burnie, MD, along with a host of cousins and friends, who will miss her dearly.

Gwen, we will miss you dearly. We pray that we showed you just how much we loved you while you lived, and how much we would miss your presence when your left us, may you ever be with the lord. We will meet again in Glory by His Grace.
