Obituary for Geraldine Susanna Ellis

April 22, 1931 - January 18, 2020
Manassas, Virginia | Age 88

Geraldine Susanne (Naylor) Ellis, daughter of Tasco D. and Rosa A. Naylor, was born April 22, 1931 in Centreville, Virginia. Geraldine passed from life and took her final journey home on January 18, 2020.

Her beloved husband, Lawrence Eugene Ellis, their dear son, Jeffrey Conrad Ellis, and grandson, Michael W. Ellis, Jr preceded her in death.

Geraldine lived in Centreville all her life and was a pillar of the community. She was a dedicated member and active supporter of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was baptized there as a child and grew up with her family serving at Mt. Olive as a Missionary and part of the Women's Ministry. She was a dedicated Deaconess at Mt Olive Baptist Church for as long as she was able to attend. Her biggest joy's in life were her church and her children.

Geraldine worked at Hazelton Labs and IBM for many years until her retirement in 1993. Geraldine received numerous certificates and awards for her service. She enlisted the help of all her "daughters" whenever it was her turn to host the We, Us & Friends club meeting. This club was formed the year these best friends graduated high school and has continued for many years. Mrs. Burnadine "Boots" Harris, a We, Us & Friends member and lifelong friend, continued to visit Geraldine as often as she could, even the day before Geraldine's last day on earth.

Geraldine leaves to mourn two sons, Lawrence Eugene Ellis, Jr. of Woodbridge, VA, and Michael (Katherine) Ellis of Atlanta, GA. To her legacy, she leaves seven grandchildren: Nevaeh (Lisa) Jones, Tabitha Williams, Krishanna Miller, Bijan Ellis, Andre Ellis, Cameron Ellis and Christian Ellis; seven great grandchildren: Janay, Eric, Michael, Chloe, Alayna, Hendrix and Jaliah, and three great great grandchildren.

She leaves a beloved nephew and niece, Arthur and Brenda Beverly, who were like a brother and sister to her; and two special daughters who were there for her at all times, Mrs. Betty Jarman and Ms. Wanda Williams. Also, she leaves cousins, a host of friends and many medical staff at Arbor Terrace, Fairmont and Brookdale Atrium facilities, along with Hospice staff.

Geraldine will be truly missed but we know that God had other plans and He is in control.
