Obituary

Brother Carl Warren Odrick passed away at his home in Annandale, VA, on the morning of July 22, 2021.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 2, 1937 to the late Elzena Martha Poles and William Odrick. Carl was the 2nd youngest of 21 children. After the death of his mother, Carl lived with various foster families until 1955 when he was old enough to join the Army. He later joined the Marines in 1961 and trained at the Norfolk Naval Amphibious Base. It was during this training that he met his wife. On November 9, 1964, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Mason of Norfolk, VA. He relocated to Northern Virginia with his wife where they both worked for the Fairfax County Public School System. He was a logistician and she was a teacher. While in Northern VA, they became members of the First Baptist Church of Vienna. He also became a life-long member of the Elks.

Brother Carl was a quiet man with a large presence. He loved giving and being around family. Brother Carl was predeceased by his wife Rosemary; his stepson, Bryan; 20 brothers and sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews. He leaves to cherish and honor his memory: two brothers-in-law, Robert D. Mason Sr., (Vivian), of Douglasville, GA, and Sherman W. Mason (Joan), of Portsmouth, VA; one sister-in-law, Leola M. Mason, of Poughkeepsie, NY; one Godson, Richard W. Hill, of Falls Church, VA; a host of nephews and nieces, the First Baptist Church of Vienna family, and friends and neighbors.
