Tribute & Message From The Family

Charles Clifford Boykin was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 26, 1937, to the late Willie Datcher and John Boykin. He peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on August 2, 2021, while under hospice care in Aldie, Virginia.

After graduating high school, Charles enlisted in the United States Army. In 1958, he moved to Northern Virginia, where built his first house on Bethlehem Road in Manassas. He was a man with many trades and talents, i.e., plumbing, electrical, auto mechanic, home improvement/renovations, and masonry. He retired from Fairfax County as a Supervisory. Charles touched the lives of many people.

Charles was preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmie Lee Cash, Eugene Pillars, Howard Datcher and Raymond Ray Boykin and one sister Mary Ann Anthony. He is survived by his brother Lewis Ray Datcher and four sisters, Maggie Jamison, Evelyn (Edward) McGee, Alice Barrett and Ella Butler. He is also survived by his nine children, Sonja Boykin, Charles Boykin II, Terrance Boykin, Bruce Boykin, Karen Craig, Teresa Gates, Jason Boykin, Stephanie Smith-James, and Charles Smith and his partner Marcia Chapman of 24 years. His sisters-in-law, Helen Alexander and Janet Robinson and 32 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will start at 11:00 a.m. (EST) at Ames Funeral Home. At noon we will have a Memorial Service in celebration of our father, Charles Boykin. For family and friends who are unable to attend the services, please join us as this celebration of life will be streamed via the link below.

The repast will be held outside at Mr. B's house following the services. Bring your fishing pole and throw out a line in memory of dad's favor pastime.

The funeral home will be following COVID-19 measures. Temperatures will be taken at the door, masks are required, and social distancing will be practiced.

Condolence & Memory Journal

The world lost a GOOD man. He blessed my family in so many ways during the more than two decades of his relationship with my sister. We always knew we could count/lean on him. He will be deeply missed but remembered fondly. Happy Birthday, CB.

Charles lived beside my uncle William Newman on Bethlehem road he was always a nice and very friendly person I always gave him a hug whenever I would see him he will be missed by all of his friends
