Tribute & Message From The Family

Clara Elizabeth Ricks "Bootsie" daughter of the late Walter and Maurice L. Johnson was born October 10, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her heavenly wings on Saturday morning, May 8, 2021.

Clara received her early education in the Cleveland Public School System. She went on to graduate from East Technical High School Cleveland, Ohio, and Jane Adams nursing school. Clara worked for Alcoa Aluminum, Manufacturing in Cleveland, Ohio. She later worked primarily in private nursing care for 20 years until her illness in 1987.

Clara was married to Hosea Ricks Jr. for forty-one years. Out of their union two sons where born, Anthony and Brian Ricks.

Clara's favorite hobbies were sewing, and watching game shows and soap operas, especially Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. She was a member of the Salvation Army Central Corp as a child, and an active member of Allen AME Church, Cleveland, Ohio, prior to moving to Sterling Virginia in 2004.
Clara was preceded in death by: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnson; Husband Hosea Ricks Jr., son Anthony Ricks; Brothers Walter and Bruce Johnson, Sister Patricia James.

Clara leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved son Brian Ricks; daughters-in-law Jerri Ricks and Teresa Cooper; two brothers Donald Davis and Michael Johnson; two sisters Elaine Hall and Maureen Teague; Grandchildren: Brian Boone, Ja'Cale Ricks, Tatyana Ricks, Brionna Ricks, Tyrell Ricks, and Wesley Ricks; Great granddaughter Ja'Niya Seay; Bonus son Ralph Sanders, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral home will be following CDC and Virginia state mandated Covid-19 measures. Temperatures will be taken at the door, masks will be required, and social distancing will be practiced.
