Tribute & Message From The Family

Cynthia Maureen Johnson departed this earthly life on August 18, 2020 at Prince William Hospital at the age of 61. She was born to the late William "Billy" Jackson and Irene Johnson Kendall on October 23, 1958 at the Manassas Clinic in Manassas, VA. She graduated from Gar-Field Senior High School in Woodbridge, VA in June 1977.
Cynthia dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized by Reverend Augustus T. Gaskins at First Mount Zion Baptist Church. She also attended service regularly under Pastor Luke E Torian, and enjoyed the biblical teachings of Pastor Charles Stanley.
For 28 years, Cynthia diligently worked for the nation's Department of Defense and maintained various positions within the D.C. metropolitan area. She ended her career in 2011 as a Personnel Management Support Specialist at the Department of Fires, Chief and Maneuvers in Quantico, VA. She received several awards, including the Federal Length of Service Award.
Cynthia enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook food for anyone that visited her home, as well as play them in Spades.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, William "Billy" Jackson and Irene Johnson Kendall, her stepfather, William "Willie" Kendall, her son, Desmond Johnson, her grandmother, Katie Johnson, her uncles, William "Buck" Johnson and Arthur Johnson, and her brother, Calvin "Bunny" Johnson.

My sincere condolences to the family. I just heard about Cynthia's transition from this life. Still can not believe it. Cynthia and I last spoke, hugged, and laughed for a few minutes at Shoppers a few years back. So grateful to God for those few minutes. Cynthia was the first person who extended her friendship to me at Graham Park Junior High School in 1969. Family, may God comfort you during this time of sorrow. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
