Message From The Family

The Donald Haight Sr. family would like to ask that you NOT send flowers, but if you would like to send cards or an offering to the family please send them to Susie Haight P.O. box 22 Stevensburg Va. 22741. Thank you in advance for your well wishes.

Donald Haight, Sr., age 85 was born on September 19, 1934, in Washington, DC, to the late Floyd Sweet and Matilda Jane Haight. He peacefully departed this life on August 4, 2020, at the Novant Health UVA Health System Culpeper Medical Center. He possessed a warm, cordial, and welcoming personality which was witnessed by many.
Donald (Tootsie Roll) attended Louise Archer Elementary School in Fairfax, Virginia. He was one of 13 children: Margaret McCoy, Alice Hill, Audrey Palmer, George (Bubby), Floyd (Duke), William (Pappy), Dorothy (Tassie) Harris, Robert (Piggy), Russell (Hump), Louise (Lady Girl) Smith, Albert (Moody), and Richard. All his siblings except for Dorothy preceded him in death.
Later in life he was introduced to Susie E. Griffin of Manassas, Virginia and this introduction blossomed into love and resulted in marriage. He and the love of his life established a home and of this union one wonderful son, Donald (Donnie) Haight, Jr. was born.
Donald Sr. always was a hard worker and was employed with the Broad Street Motors Autobody and Paint Shop as well as by the Craftsman Autobody and Paint Shop in Falls Church Virginia.
Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Donald decided to move his family to Manassas, Virginia. Donald started his own business, Haight's Autobody Shop, located in Manassas, and years later he built his own shop at his home on Bethlehem Road Manassas.
He was a member of Dean Divers Baptist Church in Manassas, Virginia. Donald was a constantly active person who enjoyed the outdoors and loved going to auctions and flea markets. He enjoyed hunting deer, rabbit, goose, duck, and squirrels. Donald also enjoyed many types of fishing and was many times accompanied by his son, Donnie, and nephews: Anthony and Donald (Bo) Chandler.
He thoroughly enjoyed watching westerns and comic shows and was an avid visitor of tractor pulls and car shows which he attended with his son, Donnie, brother in-laws Jack and Harold Griffin, and his nephews.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 66 years, Susie E. Haight, son Donald (Donnie) Haight, Jr., one sister Dorothy Harris of Vienna, VA, three sisters-in-law, Helen Haight of Falls Church, VA, Dorothy Williams, of Washington DC, Sylvia Price of Melbourne, FL, and one brother-in-law Harold Griffin Sr. of Woodbridge, VA. A host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Donald Haight Sr. family would like to ask that you NOT send flowers, but if you would like to send cards or an offering to the family please send them to Susie Haight P.O. box 22 Stevensburg Va. 22741.
Thank you in advance for your well wishes.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Don, Its a sad time for many. You father was a neat guy and I enjoyed the time I was able to chat and spend with him. He was a lucky man to have a son like you and lord knows you are a lucky man to have a father like him. I know you have a lot of found memories to reflect back on as I have witnessed many in pitchers and the stories. He will live a long-long time in those stories and in you. Take care and also let your mom know many love her and are thinking about her and you all. Love you man!
