Rudy and I are at a loss for words during this sorrowful time. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in our hearts.
We do pray that the love we share for you two and your family, will bring comfort and peace in some small way.

Steve, my wonderful s'bali. I will always treasure the memories of the times we shared, all the family milestones we went through together - and, of course the whiskey. Things will never be the same for me and, I trust, the Malumos. I will do my best to support Toa and to be good Malone to the girls. Hamba kalhle.

Dear Johnny, Aundre', Sonja and the Pearce Family, Our deepest condolences and prayers are extended to you. From the age of 8 years old when your family moved into the neighborhood, it was always a joy to see Steve and talk to him because he was always a little gentleman. He was a good big brother, always watching over Sonja and her friends Johnnell and Nicole. Our merciful God did not want him to suffer any longer. Rest in Peace Steve, we'll always remember you and meet again some day.

On Monday we called the girls to tell them about Uncle Steve and had an over hour long conversation in which it became clear just how profoundly he had touched all of and how much we loved him. A beautiful light went out on Monday and a bright star that will live forever in our hearts appeared in the heavens. Our deepest condolences and love always.

He proudly took the responsibility of being married to a Female father Toa with such gusto and appreciation of African culture. Oh what a joy and a pleasure to have known him and loved him. oh Steve who will add value to the Malumos with me? Who will share that delicious bottle of red wine with me? Who will eat my food with such appreciation that made me preen with pride? Thank you Heavenly Father for giving us Steve even though the time is too short. Sending prayers for your family!! It has been so long since I connected with Steve. Last time we connected was in Feb 2016 when I reached out to him when I was considering taking a job in Africa. I knew that following his lead was always a good thing; I should have done that more often. I think back to our times through junior high and high school, and it was a great connection we had, especially since we were usually the only two in the room representing "us". On the track was another place where we spent a lot of time together. The 800 meter man. My brother - my friend. Love you Steve. -- Love Rob Windom and family, CD c/o '88

To my other family, the Pearces. As Toa's sister I grieve with you, struggling to accept the loss of such a beautiful soul, yet feeling blessed and anchored in the Lord's love and great comfort at this time. Thank you for sharing Steve with us, and as a family we look forward to together ensuring his beautiful daughters grow up to be all they are meant to be, hedged in by our love, guidance and support. As you well know, he was extremely close to my Khanyi. The two of them shared a love many of us witnessed, and none of us will ever be able to adequately describe. Receive my deepest condolences, and my personal thanks to you for so lovingly caring for him during his illness. He rests in peace, and we rest in the knowledge we carry him in our hearts always and will one day see him again. I love you all and give God thanks for you.
