Tribute & Message From The Family

Michelle Lynn Thomas, affectionately called "Noot" by family and many friends, was born to the late Linda Louise Thomas and Litten Thompson on July 30th, 1968 in Loudon County, Virginia. She departed this life early Saturday morning April 18, 2020 after years of battling kidney disease.
Michelle grew up in a Christian home where she was surrounded with love and faith. At an early age, she attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Middleburg Virginia regularly with her mother and grandmother. Later, she was a faithful member of Oak Shade Baptist Church in Catlett, Virginia, but was still a frequent visitor at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Bunker Hill, WV where she enjoyed hearing her "Uncle Pete" sing.
Growing up Michelle had great joy in planning and arranging for family get togethers. She would look for any opportunity to call the family together for a day in the park, dinner at her house for her famous "fried chicken" or getting everyone to meet at a restaurant just to fellowship. She invested her time with her family and her love for children.
Michelle attended Fauquier and Prince William County Public Schools, where she was known as a "social bug" where she knew no strangers. She went on to drive school buses in Fairfax County and Daycare provider in Manassas Virginia, where her love for children grew.
Michelle was a warm, welcoming, and kind person with a positive outlook on life and a fundamental faith in humanity. She was friend, a cheerleader for your accomplishments, and a mother figure to many. Her home was always filled with people and children, it was a sanctuary filled with laughter and love to anyone who needed a shoulder to cry on, a bed to lay their head down or meal to fill their belly's with.
Michelle's passion in life was her children. She always tried to make sure they wanted for nothing. Even during her illness, instead of complaining about her situation, she would often say, "Rick, please take care of the kids if anything happened to me." Even though she knew in her heart he would she still would make him promise. Michelle, had the heart of her mother "Linda" She was a selfless, caring, loving person, oftentimes going without to help others. She held on as long as she could for her babies.
Michelle leaves to mourn her passing and cherish loving memories, three daughters, Katrina Renee Thomas, Keyona Angelique Thomas, and Kenya Rochelle Thomas; two sons, DeAngelo Rashid Thomas, and Davion Isaiah Thomas; her sister Karen Louise Hogan (Duane); two grandchildren, Aaliyah Louise Thomas, and Aliviah Lynn Thomas; one god-grandson, Ramon Ziar Robinson; special niece and nephew, Kiara Lynne Hogan, and Diontrae Isiah Hogan, She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, half-brothers and sisters, cousins, friends, and her best and longtime friend Isabell Holmes.
Michelle was preceded in death by her mother Linda Thomas, her father Litten Thompson, and a half-sister Faye Thompson.

The song Don't Cry for Me comes to mind for this season. Noot fought the good fight and now will walk around heaven all day. No more dialysis, not more trips to hospital and no more tears. I enjoyed every moment with her...no regrets. She recently asked me to make her a roast beef....so glad I acted on that as she shared with me...that as the best I've ever had. It's the little things to show your love that matters.
Family...she was a pro at this. Let's follow her lead.
